Eventer Georgie Dalton to stop competing

Former young rider and team gold medallist Georgie Dalton, has decided to stop competitive riding after failing to regain her confidence after a bad fall, Georgie aged 30 was a tipped as a future star having been placed on the world class development programme back in November, but after a bad accident Georgia has had a great deal of soul searching as well as counselling with a psychologist, but has decided she has no plans to compete at high levels.

Georgia is quoted at saying it has been a tough few weeks, but she is much happier now she has made her decision. Georgie missed most of last year after an accident where she had a big fall while show jumping, suffering nerve damage in her left arm, resulting in loss of fell in her arm, she has had a few outings since being claimed to ride but has struggled with her nerves. “I do not feel that I am riding with the same control, flair or confidence that I did previously,” she said.

Georfie will have a complete break over the summer and her horse have gone to Izzy Taylor and Jodie Amos., she is still considering what to do with her top horse Orlando.

Team GBR’s eventing performance manager, Yogi Breisner, described Georgie as “a very talented rider” who had “real empathy with her horses”. He added: “I respect her decision to make a change in her life and go on and do other things."
